“I would like to be a Cardinal, too!”

MARKTL, BAVARIA, GERMANY, 1932: Joseph Ratzinger was five years old when he was chosen to join a group of youngsters bringing flowers of welcome to the visiting Cardinal Archbishop of Munich. That very day he announced that he too wanted to be a cardinal. Germany's Cardinal Ratzinger was elected the 265th pope of the Roman Catholic Church on April 19, 2005, taking the name Benedict XVI.
