ANKARA, July 18, 2016: Before the courthouse in Ankara, a Turkish police officer points his gun at a woman, telling her to leave the package she is carrying. Some 7500 people have been detained in Turkey and almost 9000 officials sacked since a failed coup which has stunned the country. 42 died in clashes during an attempted coup. Turkish military forces on July 16 opened fire on crowds gathered in Istanbul following a coup attempt, causing casualties, an AFP photographer said. The soldiers opened fire on grounds around the first bridge across the Bosphorus dividing Europe and Asia, said one photographer, who saw wounded people being taken to ambulances.
