Among the many titles of the Virgin Mary, one stands out that should give us hope in our times of greatest need: Our Lady of Victory. It is a simple title, but one that has a lot of weight.
The Virgin Mary is the one who crushes the head of the serpent, and is often depicted in art doing exactly that, dealing a final blow to the symbol of all evil in the world. It is no surprise that exorcists recount how demons will flee at the name of Mary.
She represents the perfect disciple of Christ, the one who said yes each and every day of her life. Satan despises her, but has no power over her or anyone who devoutly follows her example.
She was victorious on earth and remains victorious in heaven. Below is a traditional Litany of Our Lady of Victory that brings this reality to the forefront and reminds us of Mary’s powerful intercession. We should have no hesitation to place any cause in Mary’s victorious hands, allowing her Immaculate Heart to reign over us and the whole world.
