Daily Poll: Has porn addiction touched your life?

Masturbation Poll

Porn addiction is a very real problem in our society, what with countless videos and photos available all over the internet, along with TV shows that are getting increasingly graphic. This trend has even stretched to Marvel studios as their Netflix original series Jessica Jones depicts long and graphic sex scenes in order to make the show seem more “adult”:

“It was important that we establish that this is an adult drama,” said Jessica Jones executive producer and Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena on Sunday. “And in an adult drama there is an element of sexuality that’s important and it was really important to establish because of what was happening with Jessica’s life…”

The assumption that sex is necessary to sell to an adult audience may be very telling about where our society stands on the issue. If we are constantly accosted with sexual images, how are we supposed to get sex off our minds?

Alexander Rhodes may have a solution for this porn problem. He has created a website called Nofap (fap is a slang term referring to the act of masturbation) which gives people encouragement to refrain from masturbating, stories that may take your mind off the subject, and even a forum where porn addicts can support each other:

“It’s one thing to look back and regret what happened in terms of growing up, being addicted to internet porn,” he said. “You might look back and be like: ‘Oh, man. I was a loser. And if I never watched it, my life would be so much better.’ And maybe that’s true. But at the same time, the fact that I was addicted to internet porn, the fact that I was so mediocre, makes me uniquely qualified to help humanity,”

The nofap movement currently receives 1 million visitors a month and the movement has only gained momentum since it started. Even Terry Crews is talking about the topic:

With this in mind we would like to ask:

Newsweek reports that Pokemon Go is currently more popular than porn. Do you think that Pokemon Go could help people to get their minds off onanist temptation?
