Julian Checkley holds the cosplay world record with an incredible functional Batman costume:
Everything Checkley has included on his Batsuit actually works, and he’s done a good job at making it all blend in to the rest of his costume. Here’s the full list of gadgets that earned him the Guinness World Record: 1) Fireball shooter 2) Gauntlet video screens 3) Bat tracking beacon 4) Batsignal projector 5) Folding batarang 6) Grapnel gun 7) Cowl respirator 8) Pneumatic tranquilizer gun 9) Ultrasonic anti-dog device. 10) Bat shurikens 11) UV lamp 12) Ball bearing grenades 13) Gauntlet flashlight 14) Medical kit 15) Battery pack 16) Laser designator 17) Bat-cam 18) Strobe stun gun 19) Gas dispenser 20) Smoke bombs 21) Bat flask 22) Concealed laryngeal microphone 23) Two-way radio
He started making costumes at around 7 years old with a Darth Vader costume made from papier-mâché and a balloon. Realizing that costume design was his calling, he continued to practice until achieving movie caliber skill. Holding this record thrills Checkley:
“To be a Guinness World Record holder is probably one of things I’ve wanted to do when I made that first Darth Vader costume… To be in the GWR gaming edition is huge!”
So cheers to the Irish Batman for showing resolve to accomplish his goals.
