The epitome of backwardness.
Al-Raqqah – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has learned from trustworthy sources in al-Raqqah that ISIS has invited a number of elementary and secondary school teachers and administrators to a meeting in order to prepare an Islamic curriculum for schools in al-Raqqah and its suburbs.
Sources reported that ISIS promised the teachers and administrators to provide a suitable salary after the Syrian Regime failed to send them their salaries. ISIS stipulated that there be an Islamic curriculum and said that material would be provided according to demand. Furthermore, the Islamic curriculum will be reviewed by ISIS specialists in the board of education to be adopted at a later time. Meanwhile, a number of ISIS Sharia experts have forbidden chemistry and philosophy from being taught in the curriculum under the pretext that they are unsanctioned by God.
Furthermore, Syrian Observatory sources reported that ISIS has closed institutes in the governorate for a number of reasons; one of which is to prevent students from studying a curriculum set up by the Syrian Regime. These curriculums were established at a time when the Regime controlled the governorate and controlled the Islamic and combat brigades from a distance.
