Video: “Africa for Norway” Delivers Radiators to Freezing Norwegians

Zoe Romanowsky - published on 11/20/14

What happens when stereotypes are exploited and Western aid is based solely on good intentions.

When you hear "Africa," what do you think of? Probably poverty, violence, hunger, and AIDS. That’s what the media and fundraising campaigns highlight, and while all these things are real challenges in many parts of Africa, the continent is very diverse with a great deal of positive developments and change happening. "Africa for Norway" is a campaign (out of Norway) that seeks to change the "simplistic explanations" of Africa’s problems, promote better and more accurate information, and encourage aid that is based on real need rather than simply "good intentions." This satirical film, asks the question: What if this were all you knew about Norway?
