Video: Iranian Woman Dances in Protest on Tehran Subway Train

Zoe Romanowsky - published on 11/25/14

An act of defiance against Iran's oppressive laws towards women.

This video captures an Iranian woman dancing in Tehran’s metro to "Salute" a pop song by British pop, Little Mix. In Iran, it is against the law for a woman to dance in public, or to even be seen in public without a veil covering her head. In her protest dance, the young woman lets her hair veil fall to her shoulders and dances up and down the subway train. It is an act of defiance during an ordinary routine of life. Notably, her fellow passengers seem unfazed.
