Word on Fire’s Fr. Robert Barron reflects on the power and significance of Our Lady of Guadalupe as he views her image in Mexico City for the first time. Even skeptical people, he says, have to acknowledge that this image of Mary converted an entire nation and still ignites hearts around the globe. Many miracles are associated with Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas and of the unborn. Fr. Barron describes how moving it is to see throngs of people make their way in to see her, particularly on this day, December 12–the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe–when they come from outside the city and process on their knees through the streets to the Basilica.
