Video: Fr. Pontifex Tells Us Why We Shouldn’t Be Intimidated by Lent

The season of Lent begins today — a 40-day journey we take as Christians to the cross, which leads right to the resurrection. As Fr. Pontifex, an American Roman Catholic priest and hip hop artist from Evansville, Indiana, reminds us in this video, Lent is the time we go into the desert with Jesus; a time to pray more, fast, and give more to the poor. Lent can feel overwhelming and intimidating, but if we do it together, united with each other as brothers and sisters, we can get there. Fr. Pontifex makes suggestions about how to be more successful and reminds us that it’s okay to struggle and fail because it can lead to a deeper relationship with Jesus — which is the goal of it all.
