“The Little Drummer Boy,” originally called “Carol of the Drum,” was written in 1941 by American classical music composer, Katherine Kennicott Davis. It became more popular in the mid-late 1950s when it was recorded by the Trapp Family Singers (in 1955), and by the Harry Simeone Chorale (in 1958). The song has since been recorded and sung by many artists and groups.
