WATCH: How to Gain the Fruits of the Holy Spirit

Zoe Romanowsky - published on 02/06/16

What animates your life?

Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit, envy, drunkenness, carousing and the like. … But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law.
—Galatians 5:19-22

Depending on how we live our lives, we’re producing one kind of fruit or another. And this fruit has eternal consequences for us as well as the people we love, says Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR, in this installment of The Wild Goose Is Loose, a series about the Holy Spirit. People often can’t see our prayer life, our challenges, our sufferings — but they do see fruits like patience, kindness, gentleness and joy. Bishop Sam Jacobs says these fruits are a result of our life in God. When we’re animated by the Holy Spirit, our lives produce fruit that transforms us and the world around us. Fr. Pivonka shares just how we can develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit that produces good fruit.
