Who can hide from God’s gaze? That is the question Brazilian singer Cleiton Saraiva asks in his song “Como se esconder” (How to hide). In a world where many have never felt that look of love and dignity that can penetrate into one’s soul – like that of Jesus to the sinner – it’s not surprising that many are left questioning. What was it behind that look of Jesus, which compelled fishermen to abandon their nets, prostitutes to convert, and a dying thief to cry out, longing for paradise?

St. Teresa of Avila said that relationship with God is looking upon Him who looks upon you. And that’s what this song is about; listen and reflect on that, because even though this relationship comes down to this simple thing, it takes a lifetime to accept God’s loving gaze and learn to respond to it.
