“You Make Me Brave,” the title track from the CD of the same name, is part of an album recorded live at Bethel Women’s Conference in 2013. In the words of community behind the album, “’You Make Me Brave’ sings a message of the courage, faith, and victory we find in Jesus.”

Amanda Cook, who wrote the song and is featured on the track, shared that

The lyrics were long in the making:“I wrote the song at the tail end of a long season, after basically 28 years of struggling with fear…And when I sing ‘Brave’ now, I’m giving myself permission to embrace the things that I have been afraid of.”

About the writing process she explained, “Looking back at the last 28 years of my life, I wanted to have something I would remember about that moment. It was that perspective where I was literally lying on the floor of the writing room and seeing my life from clarity. And seeing, ‘Oh, you’ve been here the whole time. You’ve been working through me.’”
