London-based Catholic gospel artist Edwin Fawcett just released a Christmas music video that is sure to please, and just in time for the big day. Fawcett made the jazz arrangement early one morning almost two years ago, and decided now was the time to record it. He enlisted the help of the band that accompanied him across Europe for his “I Wanna Praise” tour leading up to World Youth Day: Ed Blunt on keys, Bartek Kucz on bass, Michael Fawcett on guitar and Steven Raman on drums.
He shared with Cecilia Music about the selection:
“I want people to understand and feel what a relief and a comfort it is that our world has been sent a redeemer, which we have so badly needed. And he’s come in such a gentle, hidden and quiet way, the most ordinary of ways. This reminds me of how close God is at every moment, and how much he honours our small or mundane struggles and experiences, revealing glory and beauty within them.”
Fawcett dedicates a great deal of his music ministry to directing youth choirs and mentoring young people. The “Silent Night” video features members of the Convent Chapel Children’s Choir, which he directs in East London. The kids came in for an end of the year review, some time for prayer, and a surprise gift (which you’ll see in the video).
