When wanderlust leads to hope

Michael Patrick Kelly - published on 03/09/17

Michael Patrick Kelly's “Shake Away” is a pretty catchy tune

You picked me up from the depth I couldn’t cope, and You showed me a life of love, trust and hope.

It’s always nice to hear a song that is based on true human experience. Michael Patrick Kelly does just that with “Shake Away,” a song about wanderlust and hope.

Spending his formative years traveling Europe and America with his family as The Kelly Band, and touring through much of his adult life, Kelly has traveled farther than most his age. The polyglot sings of the loneliness derived from a life on the road, the ease with which one might stray from the path of the righteous, and ultimately the hope that is inspired when you come back to grace.

Accented by the mandolin and acoustic instruments, the tune feels quite homey and easy to enjoy. The background voices add an indie feel about halfway through and the ending seems perfect for a rom-com blockbuster trailer.
