Diver discovers mysterious “walking fish”

WALKING FISH

Experts have yet to identify the species.

“God created the great sea monsters and all kinds of crawling living creatures with which the water teems, and all kinds of winged birds.” – Genesis 1:21

While diving off the coast of Bali, Indonesia, Emeric Benhalassa took this video of a strange-looking fish that appeared to be walking across the sea floor on a pair of legs, according to a National Geographic report.

Concluding that it was a species of venomous stingfish, Benhalassa told the National Geographic , “The stingfish came to meet me probably thanks to the light,” he says by email. It was “bizarre and pretty … I thought that this could please the internet.”

The fish doesn’t have legs per se, but seems to scoot along on spiny fins that are actually there to “probe the mud for worms and crustaceans,” according to the report.

It may simply be “probing,” but it sure looks like it’s walking. In fact, the fish remains cloaked in mystery: scientists don’t know exactly what kind of fish it is, and would need to examine it more closely to determine its species.
