When Sister Fabienne turned up to vote at the French elections some time back, she became a bit of an internet sensation.

The 77-year-old decided to liven up the proceedings by cruising in on a hover board that she had borrowed from her friend, Father Aymeric de Salvert. The sister, who describes herself as bit of a “pro” on this machine usually destined for younger generations, was just weeks from celebrating both 25 years as a sister and her 78th birthday.

The pretty hip sister is part of the community of the Filles du Coeur de Marie Compatissant au Pied de la Croix (the Daughters of Mary’s Compassionate Heart at the Foot of the Cross) who devote themselves to Eucharistic adoration, elderly people, and the handicapped. So it seems only fitting that this inspirational nun shows both those she cares for and the world that a habit and a few extra candles on a cake will not prevent her from having a little fun!
