Enjoy 25 lectures, on video, covering around 10,000 years of history.
If your knowledge of world history could use some professional help, look no further: Columbia University’s YouTube channel has a solution at hand: 25 lectures by professor Richard Bulliet, covering around 10,000 years of world history from a very special perspective, are at your disposal.
Professor Bulliet got his PhD at Harvard University in 1967, and specializes in Middle Eastern History and the history of technology. That is to say, he takes a special perspective on history as being moved not by “heroes or villains” but rather by changes in technology. As noted in one of the many online reviews of this course – which you can also check here — “The story is absent people as prime movers. People react to their environment, experiment and do what people do best, improvise.”
