WATCH: An ancient Greek theatre you can visit after sunset


A 3rd-century BC structure with 21st-century lighting

In the Sicilian city of Taormina, the Department of Cultural Heritage has brought the 3rd century BC and the 21st century together, by commissioning a lighting design that will allow visitors to stay in the ancient Teatro Greco after sunset.

Since the theatre is still in use for musical and theatrical performances, visitors and locals will now be able to enjoy the beauty of the ruins of this historical structure, the breathtaking view of the Etna in the distance, and film festivals, rock concerts and opera performances, even after sunset.
