Saint Rose of Lima’s real name was Isabel. They nicknamed her “rose” just because she was so beautiful. In fact, she had a ridiculous number of suitors. Ignacio de Loyola, after being severely injured with a cannonball, ended up with one leg shorter than the other. Saint Drogo, who traveled to Rome as a pilgrim more than ten times, ended up his days in a small cell, after being stricken with a terrible disease that totally deformed him.
