You know the one about the Franciscan, the Carmelite, and the Jesuit on retreat?

POPE FRANCIS LAUGHING

Daniel Esparza - published on 01/12/18

Another classic joke featuring three of the most popular religious orders in Catholicism

A Franciscan, a Carmelite, and a Jesuit are on retreat in a small hermitage, in the vicinity of a monastery in the mountains. As the Carmelite was cooking oatmeal for them all for dinner, the lights suddenly went out.

The Franciscan fell on his face: “Oh, brothers,” he said, “let us praise God for letting us conduct our retreat in even greater poverty.”

The Carmelite quietly sat in a corner of the hermitage: “Oh, brothers,” he said, “let us thank God for letting us have even greater solitude with Him in this dark night.

The Jesuit folded the newspaper he was reading: “All right, brothers,” he said, “I’ll change the light bulb.”
