Jimmy Mitchell, founder and Chief Curator of “Love Good,” in partnership with Cecilia Music, has prepared a music gift for the readers of Aleteia.

Cecilia Music sat down to interviewed Jimmy Mitchell, founder and Chief Curator of Love Good.

1. Jim, tell us about Love Good. Who are you, and what is your movement all about?

Love Good was born out of a deep desire to raise the standard of culture in my own life and in those around me. It’s so easy in today’s world to feel isolated. As much as I love technology, it often turns me in on myself. I too quickly settle for counterfeit beauty or cliché alternatives. Since culture has always been about helping people share life together well, we want to help people raise their standard of culture as much through the media they intake as the kind of families and communities they raise.

What makes us unique? Love Good is a cultural movement supported by committed patrons who raise media and culture to a higher standard and turn that standard into a way of life. Through their monthly investment in young people and artists, our patrons get beautiful new music, books, and art as delivered to their doorstep every season. And most importantly, they build a better culture and subtly evangelize our world which is so desperate for beauty and hope.

As a gift for the readers of Aleteia in partnership with Cecilia Music, we are giving away 7 songs from our favorite artists at lovegoodculture.com/free. It’s the easiest way to catch a glimpse of our movement … and it’s FREE.

2. What is this standard you’re setting?

To pass what we call the Love Good Standard, media must lead with beauty, courageously pursue truth, and ultimately transform us. A vast majority of popular music, books, and art right now promotes a culture of use and escapism. To combat all the confusion in the world about what it really means to be human, we only distribute media that comes from artists who are deeply living the human experience and bringing beauty to the forefront of their artistry.

3. How did the Love Good movement begin?

As we’ve become more aware of the power of beauty to change lives (and ultimately, culture), we knew that we needed to find a way to get authentic beauty into the hands of people who were hungry for it. After Love Good launched in the summer of 2013 with a 45-city tour across the United States, we immediately began shipping beautiful new music all over the country. Our patrons have since helped us grow to nearly every continent and expand our offerings beyond music into books, art, and apparel.

4. How has the movement grown since it began a few years ago?

Because of our patrons, we’ve been able to do so much more than package up media every season. We now have a weekly podcast (with guests like American Idol winner Kris Allen and acclaimed singer/songwriter Dave Barnes), a team in Nashville dedicated to supporting young people and artists every day, annual tours that feature Love Good artists, and a growing apprenticeship program that gives young adults the opportunity to dedicate nine months of their lives to personal and professional growth rooted in prayer and accompaniment.

5. You keep talking about young people and artists. Why those two groups?

We firmly believe that those two demographics have more power to transform culture than anyone else. They have a hunger for beauty: to lead with it, to share it, and to let it be the foundation of their lives. With a wild capacity for greatness and a deep desire to invite others into it, young people and artists captivate the world better than anyone.

6. What’s the easiest way to get involved with the movement?

We have a FREE music sampler available for a limited time, here. Again, it’s a gift for the readers of Aleteia in partnership with Cecilia Music. It features a wide variety of artists, many of whom we’re distributing exclusively to our patrons this spring. It’s a really neat mix of genres: singer/songwriter, folk, rock, pop, and even an epic instrumental track. The sampler is totally free, and it will give you a great idea of what we’re all about.

7. How can we stay in touch with Love Good?

The Love Good Podcast is the best way to keep up with what we’re doing! You can subscribe on iTunes or listen here.  But we’re also active on Instagram (@lovegoodculture), Twitter (@lovegoodculture), and Facebook (/lovegoodculture). We love getting media recommendations from our followers, keeping up with patrons and artists, and seeing how others are building a better culture within their own communities.

If you love what you’ve heard and are ready to get fully on board, become a patron today by clicking here. You’ll immediately receive a free welcome package with loads of our all-time favorite music, books, and art. And there’s no doubt: the world needs more people like you raising their standard of culture and bringing beauty into the forefront of their lives.

We cannot wait to accompany you as you change the world.
