When it comes to walking through Advent alongside the Holy Family, men can look to St. Joseph for guidance. Scripture does not record any words this incredibly holy man spoke, but his actions speak loudly enough, telling us so much about him.

He cared for Mary on the long roads to Bethlehem, then Egypt, and then Nazareth, and throughout the years of their marriage. He listened attentively to God’s will for him, and acted on it without question. He raised the Messiah with love and care.

Especially in this year of St. Joseph, men can look to him for an example of how to live holiness in ordinary, everyday life. Scripture reveals his goodness through these six virtues in particular, which all men can imitate.
