Iraq hospital for Covid patients set ablaze by exploding oxygen tank.

Pope Francis on Sunday led prayer for the victims of a fire in a Baghdad hospital that was treating Covid patients.

At least 82 people were killed in the Iraqi hospital, when it seems an oxygen tank exploded and ignited the building. More than 100 others were injured in the Saturday night blaze, though as many as 200 patients were able to be rescued.

The pope mentioned the fire after praying the midday Regina Caeli on Sunday. He first spoke of the victims of the volcanic eruption in the Caribbean.

I express my nearness to the people living on the Islands of St Vincent and the Grenadines where the volcanic eruption is causing harm and difficulties. I assure you of my prayers. I bless all those who are participating in relief efforts and assistance.

I am also near to the victims of the fire in the hospital for Covid patients in Baghdad. As of now, there are 82 people who have died. Let us pray for all of them.
