The Holy Father was reading the news and walking this morning after Sunday's colon surgery.
“Pope Francis rested well last night. This morning, he had breakfast, read some newspapers and got up to walk,” announced Matteo Bruni, director of the Vatican press office, in a statement published at noon, Rome time, on July 6.
Hospitalized on July 4 for a scheduled colon operation, Pope Francis is recovering at the Gemelli polyclinic in Rome.
“The postoperative evolution is standard. The routine check-ups are good,” reads today’s press release.
Monday, the Vatican reported that the 84-year-old pope had “reacted well to the operation” on Sunday, and that a week-long convalescence was expected.
