A well-chosen gift helps your godchild learn about Jesus and strengthens your relationship.

It’s a great honor to be a godparent! The relationship between godparent and godchild is such a special bond, and it comes with responsibility.

Godparents are called to assist in the Christian education of their godchildren. Hopefully that education is something joyful and fun you share together!

Christmas and birthdays are the perfect times for godparents to really embrace that role. A well-chosen gift helps your godchild learn about Jesus and strengthens your relationship with this beloved little person.

Here are a few ideas for a perfect godchild gift this Christmas!

1The Spider Who Saved Christmas

Little ones will treasure this beautiful new retelling of a Christmas legend. Make happy memories reading it aloud together! The Spider Who Saved Christmasimagines what happened to the Holy Family on their way to Egypt after receiving the message of the angel:

When Joseph, Mary, and Jesus are in danger of being discovered and harmed by Herod’s murderous soldiers, a cave-dwelling spider named Nephila risks her and her children’s safety to help her hallowed visitors.

2Saintly Dolls

Start a sweet new Advent tradition with a Mary doll, baby Jesus kit, and Mary on the Mantel activity set.

Or check out these absolutely darling plush dolls of various saints. You can probably find your godchild’s patron saint in this big collection!

3Stories of the saints

What could be more inspiring than reading a story about God’s great saints? You can choose from so many great options!

Show your godchildren how they can be saints with the delightful picture book I’m a Saint in the Making.

Introduce the concept of saintly intercession with My Little Book of Patrons.

Saints Around the World is a gorgeous new release that features lesser-known saints from around the globe.

For older children, we love the chapter book saint biographies by Mary Fabyan Windeatt.

4Faith-filled videos and audiobooks

The Saints and Heroes video series are Catholic kid classics, perfect for teaching your godchild all about the lives of the saints.

The Holy Heroes Glory Stories CDs are a great way for kids to get to know the saints and perfect for car rides (does your godchild have a holiday road trip coming up?).

Brother Francis movies are perfect for preschoolers and toddlers.

5Prayer books just for kids

Your godchild can make good use of his or her own prayer book, especially these fun superhero, forest, and fairy tale themed ones, with traditional Catholic prayers.

As your godchild gets older, you can really encourage his or her growing prayer life with the Holy Heroes spiritual journal.

Another wonderful gift would be this Mass journal designed to help kids engage with Scripture and spend time in prayer.

Take your godchild to visit Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament with you and bring this thoughtfully designed kids’ prayer journal for Adoration.
