On this third Sunday of Advent we focus on the theme of joy in our lives. So it's extremely fitting that the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe falls on this most special day in the Church calendar.
Our Lady's five apparitions in Mexico, almost 500 years ago, have brought much joy and comfort to the many faithful who are devoted to the Virgin of Guadalupe. In fact, the basilica built in Mexico City in her honor is one of the most visited Catholic shrines in the world.
In recognition of the joy she has brought over the centuries, and still today, here are a few stories that reflect why Our Lady of Guadalupe is so important to have by our side.
Bringing joy to youngsters
The familiar image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is truly exquisite. It's no wonder that this actor's toddler took so much delight in receiving her image as a gift.
Inspiring joy in song
Since so many people were wanting to celebrate her feast day, two choirs came together despite the difficulties with COVID restrictions to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe in joyful song.
Providing joy in motherhood
When the pregnant Our Lady of Guadalupe made her apparition, it was a sign to mothers everywhere that she understood them, and was not only a mother to Jesus Christ, but a mother to all.
