The ads capture the joys (and the challenge) of once again getting together with family.

After almost two years of separation, people all over the world are anticipating once again getting together with loved ones over Christmas.

Having missed out last year, for many, this year’s celebration comes with a reinforced understanding about the importance of family. These two new Christmas ads coming out of Poland celebrate the joys — and the challenge — of being together in person.

1. T-Mobile’s perfect gift ad

In this first ad from T-Mobile, a young boy prepares to see his grandfather again in the most touching way. The message: Christmas is not about the presents, it’s about being together.

2. Allegro’s ad on what really matters

In the second ad, from Allegro, an online retailer, the 30-second message manages to convey the joys of family along with the challenge to all of us to accept people with an open heart. When a couple first meets their daughter and her new boyfriend, a pall is cast over the reunion as the father is visibly troubled by the young man’s appearance. In spite of his politeness and obvious love for their daughter, his skin is covered in tattoos and he has a nose ring.

In the end, the father learns a lesson about treating people based on their actions, not on their appearance. In an interesting twist, the ubiquitous facial mask serves to break down barriers rather than create them.
