The actor who portrayed Jesus in 'The Chosen' even learned to speak in His tongue.

Jonathan Roumie has won over millions for his role as Jesus in The Chosen, the hit series that depicts Christ as he embarks on His mission. And one of the reasons the show has proved such a success is because viewers feel a strong connection with Roumie’s depiction of Jesus.

Adding weight to his role, Roumie — whom Aleteia had the pleasure to interview about what it was like to play the part of Jesus — mastered some Aramaic, the language Jesus would have spoken; a language that is still spoken in parts of the Middle East today.

While carrying out a recent interview in London, the 47-year-old actor took a moment to recite the Our Father in the language that Jesus Himself would have used. It’s rather spine tingling to hear the 40 seconds of the prayer Jesus taught us, and while the words are unfamiliar, the meaning is unmistakable.
