The web-based phone game “Wordle” has exploded in popularity since it was released in October 2021. Social media feeds became dominated by little yellow and green boxes practically overnight. So it should come as no surprise that the swag would start to show up just as quickly.

Now Christian Wordlers can grab some clever gear to show off their Christian faith. A new company “The Wordle of the Lord,” an affiliate of “Sock Religious” is marketing merchandise featuring a religious-themed game of Wordle.

So far, the lineup only includes a coffee mug and a t-shirt. Each bears the same Wordle graphic, in which the answer is “Jesus.” The previous entries were just as Christian minded, as they guessed words like “Faith,” “Mercy,” “Cross,” and “Risen.”

Enjoying the quaint and, let’s face it, nerdy little pun is only half the fun. On the back side of the mug and t-shirt, they bring it home with a genuine expression of faith. It reads, “Jesus is always the answer.”

Wordle

Every day, the folks over at Wordle pick a 5-letter word, which is the same for every player. They have only six chances to guess what the word is, with little to go on for hints. After players place their first guess, correctly placed letters turn up green, while letters that are in the word but incorrectly placed turn yellow.

Using only these color indicators, players must figure out the mystery word by repositioning yellow letters to try and fill in the blanks. In the end, whether you’ve completed the puzzle or failed, you can share your results on various social media platforms to compete with your friends.

Don’t worry about sharing, that won’t spoil the surprise for anyone. When the results are shared, Wordle shows the colors of the boxes you filled, but does not provide the letters. This way, other players can see how well, or poorly, you did, while working to solve the same puzzle themselves.

Download Wordle at the App Store or Google Play and start playing today, for free.

Don’t want to play on your phone? The New York Times has picked up the game to be played on your web browser.
