Among the many popular Catholic prayers is the Sub tuum prayer.

It is an ancient Egyptian prayer that is known by its first two words in Latin, “Sub tuum.”

Here are the English words to the Sub tuum, sometimes called the “Under your protection” prayer.

We fly to Thy protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.
