When human life is threatened, it can be tempting to give in to our fear, not willing to step up to defend that life.
It is at those times when we most need the grace of God and his courage.
Here is a prayer from the USCCB that asks for the strength to defend the Gospel of Life.
Father of mercies,
look upon us in our weakness and make us strong.
For in the face of death and destruction,
selfishness, sin, and the darkness of the culture of death,
our fear threatens to keep us from doing your will.Give us the grace to trust in your power.
Make us rely on you alone, the God through whom all things were made,
and give us a passion for the gift of life with which you have endowed us,
and the Gospel of Life which is the foundation of our being.
Through the dying and rising of your Son,
give us strength and courage and joy in your name.
We ask this through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
