Independence Day in the United States is a time of thanksgiving for the gift of freedom, honoring the democratic ideals that are at the foundation of this country.

However, with great freedom comes great responsibility.

The Bible reminds us that freedom is given to us not for evil, but for good.

Here is a simple but powerful Bible verse that we should meditate on during the festivities of July 4th, remembering how our freedom should be used properly.

Live as free men, yet without using your freedom as a pretext for evil; but live as servants of God.

1 Peter 2:16
