After trying to calm them down, guests turned to the most powerful tool in any situation: prayer.

Every Catholic knows that prayers to Our Lady and St. Michael the Archangel are powerful. Some protesters who showed up at a Catholic event recently also experienced that power, which was able to silence their lack of civility when they tried to disrupt the event with predominantly pro-abortion slogans and chants (as reported by CNA).

It happened during the annual meeting of the Napa Institute, held this past July 29-31 in California. The institute provides support for Catholic initiatives in American society.

Participants at the event shared on social media how, during the keynote speech of the event, protesters appeared and began making noise and trying to disrupt the meeting.

In one of these videos, published by the Fathers of Mercy, Father Ken Geraci relates what happened:

Protesters show up. We start cheering and trying to wind them down. They just wouldn’t stop. So we’re thinking, “You know what? Prayer is going to be the answer. That’s how we beat evil.”

So I approached the stage, and just tried to get the chief of staff to pray – to lead them in prayer. And I said, “Say the Hail Mary!”

And he looks at me, and he just hands me the microphone. So I take the microphone, and led the 800 people at Napa in the Hail Mary, Glory Be, Saint Michael, and then we sang together. And by the end of the Salve [Regina], the protesters were gone.”
