Prayer that our hearts will be filled with God’s love

The best response we can have to God’s abundant love for us is to love him in return.

However, sometimes it isn’t easy to love God, and we need his grace to fill our hearts with love to make it easier.

Here is the collect prayer for the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time, asking God to fill our hearts with his love.

Lord God,
you have prepared for those who love you
what no eye has seen, no ear has heard.

Fill our hearts with your love,
so that, loving you above all and in all,
we may attain your promises
which the heart of man has not conceived.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

Amen.
