On Wednesday, his body will be transferred to St. Peter's Basilica where the faithful will begin to be able to pay their respects and pray for him.

Pope Francis's coffin will be carried from the chapel of Santa Marta to St. Peter's Basilica this Wednesday, April 23, at 9 a.m.

After a prayer presided over by Cardinal Camerlengo Kevin Farrell, the procession will pass through Piazza Santa Marta and Piazza dei Protomartyri Romani, before passing through the Arco delle Campane and St. Peter's Square, entering St. Peter's Basilica through the central door.

Cardinal Farrell will then preside over a Liturgy of the Word at the Altar of Confession, before which the Pope's coffin will be placed. The faithful will then be able to pay their respects.
