The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem published the prayer shortly after airstrikes between Israel and Iran commenced on Friday.
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem published a prayer for peace as Iran and Israel engaged in a series of airstrikes on June 13, 2025.
The prayer, titled "Let Us Pray Together for a Just Peace," was shared on X in both English and Arabic shortly after the conflict escalated.
"O God of Peace, 'You are the same yesterday, today, and forever.' You have said: 'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.'"
"We lift our weary hearts to You, Lord, Longing for Your light amid the shadows of fear and unrest. Teach us to be peacemakers, For 'Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.' Sow in us the seeds of reconciliation, and make us instruments of Your peace in a wounded world."
"Grant us the grace to live as You have commanded: 'If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.' Let there be in our cities and lands: 'Peace within your walls and security within your towers.' In the midst of trouble, we proclaim: 'The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear?' 'I will both lie down and sleep in peace; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.'"

The Latin Patriarchate is led by Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the patriarch of Jerusalem. It has jurisdiction for the Latin rite Catholics living in Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and Cyprus.
During the early morning hours of Friday, June 13, Israel launched missiles at various Iranian military targets. Iran returned fire later that day as the conflict continues to escalate.
