For the first time, the Catholic Church is dedicating a Jubilee to those evangelizing in the digital world.
On July 28–29, nearly a thousand Catholic influencers from around the globe will gather in Rome for a groundbreaking event that blends prayer, formation, and celebration — all rooted in a shared digital mission.
This special Jubilee, part of the 2025 Holy Year, is coordinated by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication and echoes Pope Francis’ call to engage with the “digital continent” as a true space of encounter.
Timed to coincide with the Youth Jubilee, it affirms the role of social media evangelizers — many of them young — in shaping the Church’s presence in contemporary culture.
From Instagram reels to podcasts, Catholic creators are being recognized not simply as content producers, but as missionaries. Their work — artistic, theological, and deeply personal—carries the Gospel into spaces where millions spend their daily lives.
For those who can’t travel to the Eternal City, the Jubilee offers a robust online experience. Registration remains open at digitalismissio.org, where participants can access livestreamed sessions and digital resources from wherever they serve.
Walking through the Holy Door — and the digital threshold
The Jubilee unfolds in three stages: a pilgrimage through the Holy Door, a sign of spiritual openness and renewal; a day of formation, with talks and workshops equipping missionaries to communicate the Gospel with clarity and compassion; and finally, a festive celebration in Piazza Risorgimento, where music and creativity become languages of communion.
Organizers say the event is a direct response to insights from the Synod on Synodality (2021–2024), which emphasized inclusion, listening, and the importance of pastoral presence online. The gathering also builds on the 2023 World Youth Day in Lisbon, where hundreds of Catholic digital creatives met for the first time and formed lasting networks.
Evangelizing with humanity and hope
The event’s official hymn, Tutti (“Everyone”), is a multilingual collaboration among Catholic artists worldwide. Inspired by the late Pope Francis’ declaration at World Youth Day—”In the Church, there is room for everyone!”—the song captures the inclusive and missionary spirit driving this Jubilee.
By formally recognizing influencers as missionaries, the Church sends a clear message: the Gospel belongs wherever people are — and today, that includes the scroll of a feed and the quiet prayer behind a screen.
