A new website created by the Sisters of Life seeks to showcase the various services the religious order offers to pregnant and post-abortive women.

The "Vis Center" website (the name comes from the Latin for force or power, referring to the power of women when listened to) features ways for women to receive help, whether it's for "personal advocacy," regarding a pregnancy, healing after an abortion, or "research consultation and networking."

There is also a section for women who have received an "adverse prenatal diagnosis" and are seeking help and support in coping with this news.

You deserve a space to process and look at all the possibilities without pressure. We are here to walk with you during this difficult time. We can connect you with doctors who care deeply about you and your family, and can give you a second opinion. We can also introduce you to those who have walked this path before.

The website includes numbers and emails for the Sisters of Life's various locations throughout the United States, as well as their international number.

Vowed to protect life

The Sisters of Life are a religious order that was established in New York City in 1991 by Cardinal John O’Connor, the then-archbishop of New York.

Women in the order take the traditional vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, as well as another vow to "protect and enhance the sacredness of every human life."

“This is the charism of the Sisters of Life: to mother the mothers of the unborn; to mother the unborn; to mother all those who are frail, all of those who are vulnerable, all those who are ill, all of those who are in danger of being put to death, all those whose lives the world considers useless," said Cardinal O'Connor. "Our Lord says to each Sister of Life, 'Woman, behold your son. Behold your daughter.'”
