Well-known for his popular podcast The Bible in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz)®, Fr. Schmitz is now providing a series of daily reflections for the season of Advent.

The video reflections will begin on November 30 and are directed at the difficulty many of us have with waiting.

Fr. Schmitz explains in the Waiting Well trailer video, “The stats show that we spend up to several years of our lives waiting. Waiting in line, at red lights, waiting while friends and family get ready — we're just constantly waiting. And instead of embracing those times of waiting, what do we do? We worry, we get anxious, and perhaps most of all, we check out and get lost scrolling on our phones.

The reflections will include unpacking the Daily Mass readings, as well as generally providing helpful tips on how to embrace the season of Advent.

In the Western World, Advent is one of the most neglected seasons in the Church's calendar as secular society is already celebrating Christmas, not able to wait until December 25.

In Fr. Schmitz's new series, he will help weary Catholics to slow-down and embrace waiting, helping us all to be patient with life and accept what God is trying to teach us.

There are a few different ways to access the homilies and reflections that Fr. Schmitz is providing, which are explained in full on the Ascension website.

If you are looking for a way to spiritually prepare for the celebration of Christmas, consider "Waiting Well" by Fr. Mike Schmitz.
