On revealing this year's color, we couldn't help but think that the pontiff is a real trend-setter!

When Pantone unveiled their Color of the Year for 2026, they went straight for the heavens — literally! Meet Cloud Dancer, a soft, airy white that seems to float somewhere between the divine and the delightfully down-to-earth.

This isn’t just any white. It’s the kind that calls to mind angel wings, first snowfalls, and the gentle purity of a chapel on a quiet morning. If you’ve ever looked up at a bright sky and felt a little closer to something holy, that’s Cloud Dancer in a nutshell.

A heavenly choice

In the world of faith, white has always been a big deal. It’s the color of baptismal gowns, Easter lilies, the robes of saints in stained-glass windows, and of course, the color worn by popes. In fact our first thought on seeing the new color was that the inspiration must have come from the new pontiff!

And we weren't the only ones seeing the heavenly inspiration at work! Our friends over at Our Sunday Visitor even joked, Dare we say the Pantone color of the year was ✨divinely inspired✨?"

Yet, all jokes aside, the color white symbolizes purity, new beginnings, and the light of Christ. And while we’re not suggesting you repaint your parish hall in Cloud Dancer (though it would look lovely), there’s something undeniably uplifting about this shade.

From heaven to home (and wardrobe)

So how can you bring a little Cloud Dancer into your everyday life? Think of it as a gentle nudge toward simplicity. A cozy throw blanket in this shade can turn your living room into a haven of calm. A scarf or blouse in Cloud Dancer can make you feel a touch more serene on a busy day. And if you’re feeling really inspired, maybe even a “cloud” of white flowers on your dining table for Sunday dinner.

In other words, this isn’t just a color; it’s a reminder. A reminder that there’s beauty in simplicity, that lightness lifts the spirit, and that sometimes, the most heavenly thing we can do is let a little more light in.

A little grace in every shade

Ultimately, Pantone’s Cloud Dancer is a playful nod to all things pure and peaceful. It invites us to look up, breathe deeply, and find a bit of grace in the everyday. Whether you’re decorating your home, choosing a new sweater, or just enjoying the beauty of a quiet morning, this color is a little whisper of heaven on earth. Or as Pantone describes it: "A whisper of calm in a noisy world."

So here’s to a year of dancing on clouds — or at least decorating with them. Because sometimes, a simple color can remind us of the most beautiful truths.
