Veteran finance leader and Knight steps in to guide $30B firm serving Catholic families, parishes, and institutions nationwide.
Knights of Columbus Asset Advisors, the faith-based investment subsidiary of the Knights of Columbus, has appointed Deepak Devaraj as its new President and Chief Investment Officer, effective immediately.
The announcement was made February 25 from New Haven, Connecticut, the order’s historic headquarters .
Devaraj will oversee management of the firm’s General Account investment portfolio and mutual fund strategies, while leading its internal Investment Department, including fixed income and equity strategies. He will also supervise externally managed investment programs .

In 2024 alone, members donated more than 48 million service hours and over $197 million to charitable causes . The organization also provides life insurance and financial services to members, guided by the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.
Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly welcomed the appointment, linking the role to the Knights’ founding mission. Since Blessed Michael McGivney established the order in 1882, Kelly said, the protection of Catholic families and their financial security has remained central. Asset Advisors, he noted, plays a “vital role” by investing according to Catholic principles and supporting the Knights’ charitable works .
Devaraj brings 25 years of experience in the investment industry. Most recently, he served as Global Head of Electronic Trading at Oppenheimer & Co., where he led technology-driven platforms designed to improve transparency and execution for institutional investors. Over his career, he has held senior leadership roles in trading, portfolio construction, and electronic market innovation.

“More than ever, Catholic investors want to entrust their assets with a firm who shares their cultural and moral values,” Devaraj said. He emphasized that the firm’s track record shows investors do not have to sacrifice performance to remain aligned with Catholic teaching .
With more than $30 billion in assets under management as of January 1, 2026, Asset Advisors is considered a pioneer in Catholic investing. The firm offers nine mutual funds and more than 80 model portfolios, serving dioceses, universities, foundations, hospitals, and individual investors . In 2021, it launched an advisor representative program that now includes nearly 200 financial advisors nationwide .
Founded in 2015 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Knights, the firm aligns its strategies with guidelines from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic social teaching. As faith-based investing continues to gain traction among religious institutions and families, the appointment signals a renewed focus on professional expertise rooted in moral clarity.
