Details:

A Franciscan Friar within the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis was badly beaten not far from the church where he spreads the message of love and peace, over $1. The Serra Club of St. Louis posted a prayer request on social media for Friar Ed Mundwiller of St. Anthony Padua Church in south St. Louis. According to the post, Friar Ed was attacked at 3:30 p.m. Thursday as he was walking down Michigan Avenue, not far from where he lives. He was treated at a local hospital, but will need follow-up surgery for a broken leg. Police say that a suspect asked Friar Ed of St. Anthony’s for a dollar Thursday afternoon. He was walking in the 3900 block of Minnesota, Ave after 4pm. When Friar Ed said that he didn’t have any a dollar, the suspect beat him. Friar Ed’s family confirmed the incident with Fox 2. According to his family, the suspect beat Ed until his eyes were swollen shut and his leg was broken. Hearing of the attack sent Cassandra Logan’s stomach into knots. Logan said Friar Ed has shown her so much kindness since she opened her children’s clothing store across the street from St. Anthony’s.

She’s praying for Friar Ed and the suspect or suspects.
