Pope Francis to Launch Instagram Account

Deacon Greg Kandra - published on 03/16/16

The Pope of Selfies will now have a place to post all those pictures.

Details:

Pope Francis seems on a divine mission to be the most tech savvy Holy See in history. After making his social media name with a Twitter following that now reaches almost 9 million, the pontiff is now prepping for a debut on Instagram, the photo sharing site and cell phone app. The pontiff’s handle will be Franciscus, according to TheNextWeb.com. The announcement was made by Dario Vigano, the Vatican’s prefect for communications, Ansa General News was reporting. On Twitter, the Pope is known as @Pontifex. In his last Tweet, on Tuesday, Pope Francis declared, “God is truly ‘rich in mercy’ and extends it abundantly upon those who appeal to Him with a sincere heart.” In late February, the pope met with Kevin Systrom, the CEO and cofounder of Instagram. “We spoke about the power of images to united people across different cultures and languages,” Systrom posted on his Instagram account. “It was by far one of the most memorable experiences of my life!”
