Carlos Hernandez is a deeply loved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, friend and Deacon. Anyone who knows him understands his passion for giving back to those in need. In addition to his dedicated career at Ridgewells Catering in Bethesda, Carlos spends his free time supporting the Little Sisters of the Poor, volunteering at Walter Reed Medical Center by providing prayers and counseling to our nations Veterans, and as a member participating in his local Knights of Columbus, etc. On Saturday, February 11, 2017 around 5:30pm, Carlos was on his way to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Silver Spring, where he is a Deacon, when he was involved in a serious car accident. Carlos was turning left onto Denfeld Avenue off of Connecticut Avenue, when he was t-boned by a reckless driver. Carlos is currently in critical condition at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. His injuries include: a fractured skull, bleeding in the brain, loss of mobility in his right arm, among other serious issues. As a result of this tragedy, the Hernandez family is facing a long and difficult road to Carlos’ recovery. The family also faces the reality of high medical expenses, as well as loss of spousal income, as his wife remains by his side at the hospital. Furthermore, Carlos’ ability to return to work remains unclear.

I know St. Michael’s well; over 30 years ago, when I was working for CBS in Washington, I lived in Silver Spring and St. Michael’s was my parish.
In your charity, please remember Deacon Carlos and his family in your prayers. Thank you.
