Sal Vasquez said he wasn’t surprised the church and it’s buildings were vandalized, since it has happened in the past. What surprised and upset him was the nature of the symbols spray-painted on the walls – and that they disturbed a funeral service Friday morning, Jan. 8, for a parish member.

Pentagrams were drawn on the church itself and swastikas and inverted crosses were drawn across the street at the church’s designated food pantry.

Before the funeral service began, Vasquez covered the pentagrams on the church. One was drawn on the church’s front door.
