If you’ve seen Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar winning performance in The Revenant, then you are familiar with the almost 2 minute long bear fight scene. In this long encounter Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) fights and kills a bear while sustaining many injuries of his own.

Todd Bozeman was in the woods when he had an encounter of his own:

Film footage of a chilling video diary recorded by a survivor of a bear attack has gone viral this week. Outdoorsman and Montana resident Todd Bozeman describes an encounter in which A Grizzly with two cubs sprinted at him from 80 yards away on Saturday in the Madison Valley. Bozeman posted the gory warning on Facebook before he sought any medical treatment, in order to keep fellow residents and visitors to the area safe. Bozeman also posted a lengthly, visceral account of the attack on Facebook. “I went to my face in the dirt and wrapped my arms around the back of my neck for protection. She was on top of me biting my arms, shoulders and backpack. “I went to my face in the dirt and wrapped my arms around the back of my neck for protection. She was on top of me biting my arms, shoulders and backpack. The force of each bite was like a sledge hammer with teeth. She would stop for a few seconds and then bite again. Over and over.”

He didn’t kill the bear, although he did spray it with mace. It ran off only after he started playing dead. After Todd was sure he was clear of the bear he made his way back to his car and drove 17 miles to the hospital where it took them 8 hours to patch him up.

Cheers to Todd for surviving a horrible ordeal and raising bear attack awareness! Be careful if you live in bear country.
