SaltWater Brewery has developed a new 6-pack holder that is made from excess barley and wheat left over from the brewing process. The rings can be eaten by marine life or will biodegrade over time, but the most important part: Animals can’t get trapped in them. That is something we can all get behind, and it took some doing:
Besides being 100% biodegradable, combustible, and edible, [the holder] had to be strong enough to hold the weight and the typical handling of the cans.
This small brewing company has to raise its prices a bit to cover the extra cost of this new technology, but they believe that once larger distributors adopt this method the price will be marginalized. Just another step toward a future at which to say WOW!
