After leading the Houston Rockets to victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, James Harden signed he game ball and went to find Lucy Pierce, a woman sitting court-side who happened to be celebrating her 100th birthday:
Harden presented Lucy Pierce, a fan seated courtside for the game who will celebrate her 100th birthday Saturday, with the game ball. He autographed the ball and posed for photos with the devout Rockets fan. “Well, today’s her 100th birthday, so it’s a blessing,” Harden told ESPN’s Doris Burke after the game, though he was slightly off on the actual date of Pierce’s birthday. “You know, she’s excited, she’s sitting on the court. She kept smiling over there. I had to go give her the game ball and tell her how blessed she is and I am for meeting her.”
And we thought scoring 38 points was incredible, but what a wonderful gesture! Cheers to Harden for being an all around good guy and cheers to Lucy, may you have many more years of fandom.
